Wongan Waterfall, Kokoyah, Bong County, central LiberiaWongan waterfall, although relatively unknown to the general public, is indeed a spectacular place to visit. As a wonder of Liberia, the waterfall showcases an awe-inspiring beauty which is manifested in the spray, the thunderous sound that accompanies the cascading water and the tranquil island beneath the waterfall.A stunning feature of the St. John River, the waterfall, located in Kokoyah District, Bong County, is said to be about 50 to 60 meters high. Its majestic beauty appears when the waterfall goes around the Wongan Island. The wide basalt cliffs over which the cascading waterfall are framed in particular ways that are different from each other; thus giving the waterfall a spectacular and unique view. Remarkably preserved in its natural state by locals, Wongan inspires visitors from several vantage points, like the “falling edge point.”At this point, a visitor can have the panoramic view of the waterfall, the cascade and the boiling pot, which is an area where the waterfall enters into the St. John River.Open to visitors throughout the year, the Wongan has a park that is boosted by a thick patch of forest, which is home to a variety of plants and animal life that are exclusive to the area. Hunting and farming activities are prohibited by locals in the forest.Activities, seasons and locationAt the waterfall, a number of activities can be undertaken, such as fishing and traditional canoe rides, swimming, and diving from the top of the waterfall for those who are brave enough. The river’s annual flood season is for six months—May to October, and during this period, the spring from the Wongan’s typically rises to a higher height and can be seen from as far as 10km away. But when the dry season, which occurs from November to April, takes effect the islet crest becomes wider as the rocky bottom becomes easily accessible. The Wongan waterfall lies on the northern bank of a village in Boisien, Kokoyah Statutory District, Bong County. From the town, it is accessible via a footpath that is a 55-minute hike. The footpath in itself is an experience to take in, in addition to the anticipation of the waterfall and the surrounding jungle. The path provides visitors with a good selection of traditional food while en route to the waterfall.Sadly, Boisien town lacks better accommodation, like hotels, guest houses, and supermarkets. But the town’s lively residents are deeply rooted in their culture.Despite poor accommodations, Wongan waterfall is a unique place of mesmerizing beauty, exciting activities, or simply to lounge in the sheer tranquility.Meanwhile, Wongan and Gbedin waterfalls, unlike Kpatawee, remains relatively unknown to the public but are exciting places to visit. Gbedin waterfall is between 25-30 meters in height and is located in Nimba County, off the road between Ganta and Sanniquellie.July 26 adventure, anyone?Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)

The newly selected Donegal Person of the Year, Anne-Marie Ward, has discovered she is really a Gallagher and has been embraced by the clan!So much so that the remarkable endurance swimmer is to carry out her first official function at the Gallagher Evening which takes place tonight in the Station House Hotel, Pearse Rd., Letterkenny, Co. Donegal at 7.00 p.m. sharp. This event will celebrate another great occasion, the 1st Gallagher Global Gathering and successful Guinness World Record attempt in September 2007. This was a marathon in its own right. It will also be a celebration of the great global Gallagher heritage in general.“My granny was a Gallagher”, says Anne-Marie, “and I’m very proud of the Gallagher heritage in which I share. I’m very happy to celebrate that with the Gallagher Clan during the Friday night event and also to acknowledge their efforts both in the past and into the future.“In particular I would like to acknowledge their success in achieving their Guinness World Record. I’m sure that great effort was put in to achieve that award. It didn’t just happen on the day. As in the case of my own achievements, it required the efforts of a strong team putting in the preparation over a long period to bring things about”.Her joint recipient of Donegal Person of the Year 2011, Hugh Green, also has a claim to Gallagher heritage – through his mother! As Hugh is ill at present his sister, Maryanne Kitchener, 85, made the long journey to Dublin to represent the family at the awards ceremony in Dublin on Saturday evening last, the 3rd March 2012.Adrian Gallagher of the Gallagher Clan met her in the Regency Hotel, the venue for the awards, where she told him of her and Hugh’s mother being one of the Gallaghers who were the original owners of Gallagher’s Hotel on the Main St., Letterkenny.Along with Anne-Marie Ward there will also be in attendance tonight, the county and town mayors and of course the Gallagher’s own Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP.Videos, photographs etc .of 2007’s week long events, including the section of the ABC News TV programme that concerns the Guinness World Record attempt in Letterkenny, will be shown. This programme was shown coast to coast (to a potential audience of 200 million!!) a few months after our successful attempt. Did you, your family or friends appear prominently? Come and see. There will also be live music and dancing and people will be able to mingle and chat with a cup of tea and biscuits.During the evening a review will take place of what has been happening since 2007 and holding a very short AGM of the Gallagher Clan to set it up for the following year. If anyone would like to get involved at any level they are more than welcome to let the Gallagher Clan organisation know at anytime. As with all the other events that were held since the first in 2006 It is hopes that those who attend will have a great night of fun, frolics and friendship, though it will also be a night to remember those who attended events in 2007 and who are no longer with us.Of course that this will be an evening for all Gallaghers and their friends and not just for those who attended 2007. There will be plenty of fun and items of interest to all. So let you all come out and enjoy a great nights craic (and we don’t mean the powder version!!). That will set the trend for the next 20 months or so leading into September 2013.To add to it all, those who attend will be entered into a draw for an original copy of the Guinness World Record certificate that was presented in 2007.DONEGAL PERSON OF YEAR ANNE-MARIE WARD DISCOVERS SHE’S REALLY ……A GALLAGHER! was last modified: March 8th, 2012 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:Anne Marie WardGallagher EveningHugh GreenPat The Cope Gallagher
BY EMMET RUSHE: What follows is a short list of a few of the characters you will come across in almost any gym around the country. You may know a few of these. Maybe you are one of these! THE NEWBIE: This person can range in age, but I’m going to focus on the 16-20 year old male newbie. This guy lands into the gym armed with all the lifting knowledge the last issue of ‘Men’s Health’ gave him. He watches all the bigger guys in the weights room and REALLY wants to be like them.He claims that he wants to get bigger but is only ever seen doing a few curls and sometimes some crunches. The newbie can also be found trapped in the chest press after trying to lift the same weight as the biggest guy in the gym.THE GYM BUNNY: This is the girl who seems to spend every waking hour in the gym. Maybe she doesn’t, but every time you set foot in the gym, no matter what time of day or night it is, the gym bunny is there. Clad all in Lycra, the gym bunny can be seen on any of the 3000 cardio machines the gym has to offer and frequenting almost all of the 90 classes the gym does that week. When not in the gym, the gym bunny is usually spotted out for a ‘walk’ that can last up to 4 hours.THE SWEATY GUY : Every gym has one.All this guy has to do is put on a pair of trainers and it’s like he starts to evaporate.Everyone knows that this guy was in the gym due to the sweat-mark of the back of his head generously left on every machine.People have been known to flee in terror when the sweaty guy starts doing jumping jacks due to the fallout of sweat spraying from the ends of his fingers. Reports of diminishing blue roll supplies have been reported throughout gyms with sweaty guys training there.THE BRO: Aaaah, the Bro.No gym would be complete without their very own bro.Bro’s can be found solely in the weights area. Training times can range anywhere from 3-5 hours.30 mins of this is actual training and the other 4 and a half hours being spent providing God-awful information on training, nutrition and supplements to whoever will listen to them.Bro’s are usually found with a flock of Newbies hanging on their every word and sipping on a protein shake so they don’t lose ‘Dem Gains’.Shouts of ‘1 MORE REP’, ‘YOU GOT THIS’ AND IT’S ALL YOU BRO’ can usually be heard echoing from the dark corners of the free weights area.THE SLEAZY TRAINER: The sleazy trainer can usually be seen in colour coordinated, same branding training gear. They have a sixth sense whenever a female sets foot in the building. This particular specimen can be found leaning on whatever machine any attractive female is trying to train on.Sleazy trainers usually have 500,000 friends on Facebook, with 499,999 of these being female and members of whatever gyms they have worked in. They can usually be found with a year round tan, eyeball-melting white teeth, highlights, t- shirts that look like they were bought in ‘Baby Gap’ and sitting on Tinder for the best part of the day. If you are male and in need of help in the gym, you are clean out of luck if you approach this trainer. You might want to keep any eye on your other half however. These 5 people have been a part of gym culture since time began. There might be one or two here that you dislike, but whether you like them or not is irrelevant. If we were all the same, the world would be a boring place. These people are what make the gym, the gym.#TrainSmartFor further information on Personal Training or The Better Bodies Challenge, please contact me through the link below. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rushe-Fitness/120518884715118 * Emmet is the owner and operator of Rushe FitnessEMMET RUSHE’S FITNESS COLUMN: 5 PEOPLE YOU WILL FIND AT ANY GYM was last modified: October 19th, 2014 by John2Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:donegalemmet rushefitness columngymhealth
zoom Marubeni Corporation and PTT Public Company Limited started a joint feasibility study with an aim to launch LNG bunkering at Thailand’s largest industrial port. The study has a goal of implementing LNG refueling to ships in Laem Chabang Port, which handles more than 8,000 ships annually.A third expansion plan is being carried out with the demand for LNG bunkering expected to grow in this area due to increased exports and the tightening of environmental regulations from 2020.The joint study will verify the feasibility of an LNG bunkering project that utilizes a fuel supply ship that is compatible with an existing PTT managed LNG receiving terminal in Map Ta Phut, located in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) in Thailand.
