Mohd Daud replaces Maszlee as IIUM president

Nation 11 Jul 2019 IIUM names its new president PETALING JAYA: International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) named its new president six months after Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik resigned from the post.The new president Datuk Dr Mohd Daud Bakar is the former vice-rector (student affairs) and lecturer at the varsity.Mohd Daud’s appointment for a three-year term starting July 1 was made with the consent of IIUM Constitutional Head Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Iskandar.The Alor Setar-born lecturer, who is also the Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YaPEIM) board of trustees chairman, was the 2014 national-level Maulidur Rasul Tokoh Perdana award recipient. AdChoices广告Mohd Daud is a member of many syariah advisory bodies in foreign and local Islamic financial institutions.The founder of Amani Advisors Sdn Bhd, an Islamic financial company, holds a degree in jurisprudence from Universiti Malaya. He also studied syariah at the University of Kuwait and has a doctorate from the University of St Andrews, said a press statement from IIUM yesterday.“Mohd Daud’s vast experience in IIUM means that he will be able to advise and help build the varsity into a respected institution,” the statement read.
